Things to avoid when you do an Open House to sell your home fast

Your home is where you spent the majority of your life; therefore it has a special place in your heart. That’s why we are all biased when it comes to showing people in our home and also, that’s why we are so keen not to notice or take care of a few things, which however can greatly affect the selling process. In this article we would like to help you and let you know of a few things visitors instantly notice, when they visit someone else’s home. These tips can also help you arrange everything when you are expecting guests to come over.

Strange smells

This is actually something that hits everyone in the face when they enter in a home and the saddest thing about it all is that these are smells we so got used to at home that we don’t even notice these. Weird smells can be anything from food and spices to pet hair or pet toilette/ cage/aquarium smells which don’t really work in your favour. Make sure to eliminate all the bad odours well before any visit.

Pet hair everywhere

Pet hair has some strange qualities: one of which is, that it would not easily go away, not even after a thorough cleaning and vacuuming, because it flies in the air, even when you don’t see it. Pet hair needs special care to remove from a home. This has importance on several levels: first of all there are many people out there who are allergic to pet hair, particularly cat hair. So, when they visit and start to sneeze uncontrollably, chances for them to buy your home instantly deplete to a zero. Therefore if you have one or more pets do the following:

  • Do not have pets around, or if you need to try to keep them in the garden. Yet, its way better to have them carried somewhere else. Not everyone likes pets and many people are allergic to them too.
  • Have every textile thoroughly washed or get new ones instead which did not have the chance to get hairy yet. Textiles not just include sofa covers, armchairs or carpets; literally everything gets very hairy which includes the spaces under the furniture, the curtains and just all free spaces.
  • Let the fresh air in several times a day to move the hair away
  • Get air fresheners with a pleasant yet neutral smells.

Privacy

Visitors are keener to recognize if your front neighbours can see a whole lot more from your private life, than they should, because of the lack of proper curtains. Same goes for the garden and balcony areas. Make sure everything is nicely yet thoroughly closed from sight of others as much as possible.

Lighting

Bad lighting can hit everyone in the face it can make spaces look small and sad and it can make an overall clean home look used or neutral. That’s why you need to make sure you have plenty of light that the light it placed in the proper way, it’s not too strong and not too weak and also avoid the cold white light of LED and go for a softer light source.

Ask friends and family to come over and help you with the arrangements.
